I started writing this song in 1979. I also recorded a rough version of what I had written. I finished the song in 2021, and recorded it the same year.

There's a copywriter writing on the 47th floor
He sees the city moving far below
He's thinking about a child he knew and where that child has gone
What's been forgotten that he's sure the child would know

His pen is slowly moving across the paper
The words he's writing almost move the man to tears
Then he softly sings the words back to himself
As he's singing sees a vision of the years

You forget the words that move you
And you're closer to the feelings that you started out to fight
It seems it's only recently you notice all the rules
You always knew what's right
